Summer Outfit: An Unexpected Element!

Hi, everyone!

 

I'm really excited to show you this outfit, because even if it looks pretty normal to you, there is something unexpected about it. I'll go into more detail about that in just a minute, but for now, enjoy this outfit I put together for church this past Sunday! It's super hot where I live, especially since it's summer now. If I'm being honest, I find it difficult to put together cute outfits in the summer because there is a limit to how much you can wear without suffocating. In the fall, if you want to make an outfit interesting, you add more layers. In the summer, you don't have that option! But I really liked the way this outfit came together. It was cute and put together, but kept me cool in the heat.

 

 

Alright, so you ready to learn about the unexpected part of this outfit? Drum roll please...

 

I'm wearing men's shorts!

 

I know, weird right? Funny story -- my brother bought these shorts, but they were too small for him, so he put them in our "get rid of" pile of clothes. I saw them laying there, and I got this crazy notion that they might fit me. I tried them on, and wonder of wonders, they fit! I'll admit that I was a little skeptical about wearing men's shorts, but I actually really like these! They add texture and polish to my outfit, and while I love denim shorts, denim just wouldn't have given my outfit the same "put together" look that these fancy shorts did. I have to tell you something about men's shorts though -- the pockets are incredibly deep! For girl's shorts, we have these tiny pockets that barely hold anything. Men's shorts have these vast abysses that hang down almost your entire thigh! I guess it makes sense though, because guys don't carry purses...

Hello, everybody!

 

There are some days when you just don't feel like putting a whole lot of effort into your outfit, which is when I recommend bringing out the basics. A chambray shirt and black jeans are an easy outfit that anyone can pull off, and you will look effortlessly stylish in it as well. For my day at school, I kept my look casual with a silver necklace, black flats, and natural hair.

 

 

If you don't have a chambray shirt and black jeans in your closet, I would definitely recommend that you go off in search of those pieces! They are very versatile and will serve you well in many seasons. Polka Dot Top and Red Necklace

Hey, everybody!

Today the weather was pretty hot. About 100 degrees hot. I usually find it a challenge to get dressed up during that kind of hot weather, since I can't add layers to my outfit to make it look more interesting and put together. But I liked the outfit I put together for church this morning, and I was able to stay cool all day! I wore a nacy, polka-dot top with a pair of denim shorts and some basic black flats. I accessorized with a black ribbon tied around my waist, a red, beaded necklace, gold bangles, and some gold earrings (no picture of those, sorry!).

"Tuckled" Green Cardigan and Gold Belt

Hey, everybody! Today I have an outfit that I put together in January to show you. It's a super simple outfit that anyone can wear-- a cardigan, skinny bootcut jeans, some jewelry, a belt, and a pair of flats. I decided to "tuckle" my cardigan, so that the belt would be a more prominent feature in my outfit.

 

 

 

My necklace is kind of a fun touch, because it has a message!;)

Pink Flesh Tone and White Cardigan

Hi, everyone! So a while ago, I put together this pink, white, and black outfit. Since my skin is fair, with a pink tone to it, this pink shirt all by itself wouldn't look very good on me. But since I added the white cardigan, it breaks up the "pinky-ness," making it much more flattering for my coloring. If you have a color that is similar to your skin tone, the same idea can help you make it work.

 

 

Note: If you look closely, you will see that my pants have a pattern to them.
