Nerdy look!

Hey all!! It's Emma! This trend is one that I'm personally fond of. I do it a lot!:) but I'm talking about nerdy... Not the creepy TV nerds but cute nerds!

Nerdy look- for the nerdy look you want the following items: button up shirt (most all work), suspenders (optional), jeans or capris, glasses (optional), cardigan (again, most all work), and oxfords.
There are a lot of other things you can use for accessories like a tie necklace, to get less of a nerd, NERD, look you may want to wear a pretty pearl necklace and a headband with a flower on it. For the true nerd look you can wear glasses- such as 3D glasses (please do not get overboard and get the GINORMOUS glasses, it will ruin it.:)), and suspenders also you can pull your bangs back, if you have bangs.
I've gone for the true nerd look cause I like to go all out.:) But get creative and style your inner nerd!!!

Hope you love my nerdyness!:)

Purses and Personalities

Just a couple days ago, I noticed my mom and grandma's purses on our piano bench. The differences between their styles struck me. My grandma likes animals, animal print, and lots of sparkle. (My sister and I take after her in that way.) But my mom doesn't particularly like animals, is a very sensible person, dresses with comfort in mind, and likes just a touch of sparkle. I think that it is so interesting how personalities can be so different from generation to generation. It's just amazing how creative God is with people.

So, based off of the information I gave you, which purse do you think belongs to whom?

Summertime Inspiration from a Tank Top

Today while I was out shopping at Kohls, I found this cute blue-striped tank top. I saw this hanging on the rack, and was my imagination was immediately sparked. This blouse made me think of summer, and what summer is about for so many people. Summer is about freedom- in so many ways. We celebrate Independence day in the summer, and we revel in our freedom and time off from school. And this is what I was feeling when I saw this shirt. This is an fun, carefree top that you can easily wear with your favorite pair of jeans or shorts. And, there's an unexpected twist to this shirt!

As you can see, I meant what I said about an unexpected twist. Hehe... The back of this shirt has a quirky back that I found unexpected. This tank top is available at Kohls, and is from the Jennifer Lopez line. If you like this tank top as much as I do, then click through the pictures to be taken to the web page. There are other colors available too, if you don't particularly like this color. Do you have a tank top that you absolutely love in your closet?

How to Wear: Galaxy Prints

Galaxy outfits

This outfit was made by my sister Emma. The galaxy trend has been going strong lately. A lot of outfits that I have seen use galaxy print leggings in the outfit, but if you aren't quite that bold, you can wear a shirt with some jeans for a very casual and wearable outfit. But if you want to go for the legging look, I would wear a solid top in a corresponding color (or a neutral, like black). I would also suggest that the top be long enough to cover your rear, since leggings tend to cling. Or you could wear a simply shaped, neutral colored skirt over the leggings, for slightly less impact and another cool look.

As for shoes, you can basically wear anything you want! Leggings would look good with TOMS or Converse for school (or just anytime!), sandals in the summer (although why would you want to wear leggings in the summer?), and boots in the winter.

And lastly, have fun with the accessories!:)

Trend Report: Black and White

Chic
Chic by fashiongal96

This spring, the black and white combination is a huge trend. I would recommend wearing only black and white in your outfit, or just add one pop of color to your outfit. If you decide to wear only black and white, it gives this cool, minimalist effect. If you add a pop of color, add the color where you want to attract attention. Like, if you want to draw attention to your face, wear colorful earrings or a bright necklace. Or if you have a small waist, you could accent it with a belt (like in the outfit above). Do you like the black and white Spring 2013 trend? How would you wear this trend?

Easy Braided Bun Tutorial

Hey everybody! Just a couple of days ago, I did my hair in this cute bun hairstyle.

This look is super easy to re-create. I mean, if I can do it, you can too! Here is what you will need-
  • Headband (optional)
  • Bobby pins (NOT optional!;)
  • A cute hair bow elastic (optional)

Here is what you are going to do-
  1. Braid your whole head of hair into one big braid.(you might want to gather your hair into a ponytail and then braid the tail- it's up to you! I don't do that though.)
  2. Now you are going to wrap your braid into a bun and secure with bobby pins (see, the pins are SO not optional!;)
  3. Now it's time for accessories, to jazz up your bun! You can slide a cute elastic over your bun, to the base of the bun (like in the picture), you can put on a headband (I did, but I didn't get a picture. I just used the simple black one in the photo of the supplies.), or you can do both!
And that's it! My first time forming the bun on the day I did this, my bun was kinda lopsided. So I re-did it. It might take a couple of tries to get it straight, but you'll get it.:) Do you like doing your hair? If you have any fun tutorials, leave a comment below!

Green Scarf Outfit and Inspirational Quote

This past Friday, I wore this grey V-neck t-shirt over a white camisole, cuffed, straight leg jeans, Converse tennis shoes, and a bright green circle scarf. The camera didn't really pick up just how BRIGHT my scarf is. Sorry! I felt really artistic in this ensemble because of the scarf, rolled cuffs, and my mixing of bracelets. What do you think of my outfit?

This is my scarf.:)

And just some inspiration for you, if you are kinda scared about your needs being met. If you are a Christian, this applies to you. If you are not a Christian, then God is still watching over you, and loves you very much. He is the one who supplies you with all of your needs. If you would like to know more about Christianity or God, leave a comment or email me. My email is on my profile page. Have a blessed day!

Bridesmaid Dresses

I'm so excited! My mom just ordered my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding! I'm the fashion coordinator for my sister's wedding, and this started out as a huge responsibility. My sister wanted all of us bridesmaids to wear coordinating dresses, but for them to all be different! The big eclectic bridsmaids' dresses trend was what my sister is going for. So I set out to find dresses for all of my sister's bridesmaids. After awhile, my sister just told all of her bridesmaids to just find a dress in a light pink or peach color. Lace was also desirable. My sister wanted a vintage look at first, but now we're going a bit more fancy.

Soooooooo.... Now I'm just going to (hopefully) coordinate the accessories! I'm excited for that.:) But I won't be surprised if I don't get to do that either. But one thing I know for sure, is that I will get to accessorize myself! This dress that I just ordered is so cute- it's a light pink color with an ivory or cream band around the waist. It's also got some pleating details on it. The following picture isn't the best picture of it (my mom took the picture from her iPad with her phone.), but I will show it to you when it arrives.:)

I can't tell you the hardships I went through to find this dress! I had originally decided to purchase this dress from Modcloth, but they ran out of my size the day that I decided to order it! I couldn't believe it!!! I was pretty upset... But then I got up and kept searching! I looked at TONS of dresses. Then I found this dress. It's everything I wanted- it's long enough (meaning, hits above my knee. All of my dresses need to be that length, because that is what is modest- and what is modest is pleasing to the Lord.:), this dress is the color that my sister wanted, and I can re-wear it again and again after the wedding! And here is the SUPER cool thing- when we ordered it, Modcloth only had one of these dresses left... AND IT WAS IN MY SIZE!!! I got the very last one available, and as soon as my mom finished ordering it, the website said that it wasn''t available anymore, and wouldn't ever be restocked. So, I got the very last one EVER available! I feel so special.:) Can't wait for it to arrive, and to show you how it looks!

Messy Bun

Yesterday, I put my hair into a bun to emphasize a special detail in my shirt- angel wings! This bun is super easy to make. All you do it gather your hair into a ponytail, just don't secure it with a ponytail holder. Just hold it with your hand. Next, twist the tail of your ponytail and spin it into a bun wherever you held your ponytail in place. Then secure with bobby pins. My hair is layered, so my bun was a bit messier, so if your hair is layered, it will look a lot like how my hair looks. But if your hair is all one length, it will probably look really neat.:)

I made the bun while my hair was wet, so when I took it out, my hair was wavy. It looked really cool and kinda boho.:) I'm thinking about sleeping with my hair in a bun or, at least, on top of my head, to wake up in the morning with these messy waves.

Some of the curls in my hair looked like ringlets!

Thanks for reading! Have a great day!

Spring Scents

This spring, one of the big fragrance trends is to NOT change your scent from something darker and heavier for winter to something lighter and sweeter for spring. In other words, keep wearing the heavier scent through spring.

Another new trend is to wear a perfume that smells like what a guy would wear- dark and woodsy. I don't know about you, but I enjoy smelling like a girl! So I'm not planning on wearing heavier scents through spring, or wearing a guy's cologne. I'm going to enjoy smelling pretty.:)

These are my picks for this spring. Paris Amour by Bath and Body works. They have a large collection for this product line, and it smells super pretty. Like a flower! They also have variations on Paris Amour, like my lotion set. Next time you are at Bath and Body Works, give this line of fragrances a try!

You Belong Here- Yellow and Cobalt Blue

You Belong Here

I really enjoy combining two different colors together. One of my favorite combinations is yellow and blue. What is cool about color combining, is that one color can be really light and mellow (like the yellow in this set) and the other color can be bold (like the cobalt). I think it makes a cool look.:) What colors do you like to combine?

Blast to the Past- American Girl Dolls

Last Sunday, Emma had her friend come over and play American Girl dolls. And before I knew it, I had dragged out my dolls from under my bed, and started playing with them! We were putting on a fashion show at first, but then it turned into a competition. The winner won the trophy below!

The first round was "Crazy Outfits". There were three contestants in each round, but I didn't take a picture of my doll's crazy outfit. We randomly chose two pieces from our doll's closets, and then crazied them up!

The results- Crazy outfit round winner was Emma's doll! Crazy hair was won by Emma's friend. And the cute outfit contest was won by me!:) Yay! Who do you think should have won in each contest? Emma's doll fainted when she found out that everyone won the contest!

Every doll is a winner!
Actually, it was pretty fun to play with the dolls again. I haven't done anything with them in so long! Did you ever play with American Girl dolls when you were younger?
