Snowflakes in Paris

Hi everybody! I made this outfit a while ago, but I never uploaded the photos. But they're here now!
I love cool days, because it gives me the chance to layer. From a distance, my almost all black outfit looks like a dress, but when you look closer, the "dress" is actually two separate pieces! I styled my black Eiffel Tower sweater over a black dress (the dress masqueraded as a skirt for the day-- one of my favorite fashion tips!), then I added cream tights, a belt, my go-to black boots, and a knit scarf.

These tights make me think of snowflakes!

Brown Skirt and White Cardigan

Hey everybody!

I made this outfit a while ago, and I didn't ever get around to posting it! I usually wear my cardigans over my skirts (see here and here), but this time around, I tucked my cardigan in and added a belt. I really liked this look, because I think it was the first time I had ever thought of tucking in my cardigan, so it was more unique to me. I hope that you like it too!

Have a great day!

Banana Peel Acne Treatment- Seriously AMAZING

I want to share with you something amazing- a way to significantly heal acne! May I present... The banana peel method! If you peel a banana and use small squares of the peel on your skin, it works wonders. I've used this technique a couple times, and let me just say this- one day my skin had (basically) a hole in it from where I picked off a bad scab, and after one treatment with the banana peel, my skin had already started healing together by that night. It was still red and scabbing mind you, but my skin had already started to heal up the layers of skin. In fact, one of the layers had already healed and dried up by that night. Honestly, banana peels are skin miracle workers.

If you have some acne that you would like to disappear over the course of a few days, then just follow these instructions--

Peel a banana and cut up the peel into squares-- I usually end up with three long strips of banana peel, then I can cut those up into about four pieces each.

Take the squares and rub them onto your (clean, lotion free) skin where you want the acne to go away. Keep rubbing until the peel is turning brown, or you see the brown residue starting to show up on your skin.

Once you have completed the rubbing, then let the banana residue stay on your skin for 15-20 minutes. (The longer the better!) Then you can rinse your face off.

This is one treatment. I usually do two treatments a day- once in the morning, and once at night. If you want, you can do it again in the middle of the day, but from my experience, twice a day is enough. Now everyone, get ready for amazing skin!

Ripped Jeans and Powder Pink

HEY Y'ALL! It's Emma here!:) Two weeks ago, on Sunday, I wore this ensemble and Kendra said it was blogging worthy!;)

I'm wearing a sheer, light pink blouse with some pretty designs on the chest that, unfortunately, don't show because of my hair (:/), ripped patchwork skinny jeans, and my studded, pewter sneakers!:)

Camo Shirt and Red Jeans

Today I want to share an outfit that I wore yesterday. While I was away in Texas last week, my mom, sister, and I went on a shopping trip. We found this wonderful store at the mall called Maurice's and ended up buying some super cute new clothes. This is the first thing that I chose to wear from my new finds- a camouflage button down!

When I first paired this top with my red jeans, I wasn't completely convinced that it would look good together. But when I slipped a black t-shirt underneath the camo and add a metallic belt, I was really happy with the results.

I also tried this cool rolled hairstyle yesterday. When I took my hair down, my hair was curly, but it didn't last very long. It probably would have lasted longer if I had hairsprayed it though.

Thanks for reading!

Bold Patterns and Weekend Challenge

Hello everyone!
I apologize for the lack of recent posts. This past week, I was out of town in Texas! It was a great trip, and I might be sharing some photos that I took there soon. But for now, I have this outfit that I made for church on Sunday.

I had found this skirt on the clearance rack at Dress Barn about a month ago, and my mom was so kind as to buy it for me online a little while later. I had seen a lady trying it on in the dressing room and she had no idea what to wear with it. I'm an introverted person, so I didn't pipe in with my opinion at the time, but I wish I had. She was trying to find a top to go with this vibrant skirt, and pretty much any of the shirts she was trying on would have gone with the skirt. I don't think that the lady bought the skirt, but my advice would have been to tuck whatever shirt she chose into the skirt and add a belt! It instantly flatters your figure, because it adds a defined waistline and draws attention to the smallest part of you.

I love this skirt because it's beautiful and actually very versatile as well. I have a ton of ideas for wearing it- cardigans, denim jackets, belts, jewelry, sandals, heels... It's all about mixing it up! But here is my first outfit wearing this eye-catching skirt.

Some people might look at this skirt all by itself and be intimidated to wear it due to the "loudness" of it. Lots of color and sparkle can make some people want to run and hide in their trusty basics, but I'm here to dare you to try something bold! This blog is called Uniquely You because I believe that everyone is unique, and that you should have fun expressing it. If you want to wear something bold but are afraid of it looking silly on you, then just follow these basic steps-

Choose a piece of clothing with the bold pattern of your choice.

Find the colors in the pattern and choose one other solid piece of clothing to wear with the pattern (if your pattern has only two colors and one of them is a neutral, you should go with the neutral color).

Add basic/neutral pieces to help tone down the pattern (if what I mentioned before about having only two colors applies to you, then you can choose another neutral that coordinates- like denim.)

Complete with accessories.

I hope that this has inspired you to try something more bold and daring! Speaking of which.... That is your weekend challenge- to wear a bold pattern. Take a picture of yourself in your bold pattern outfit and send it to my email (uniquelyyou4ever@gmail.com) and I'll use your photo as a feature in Monday's post!
I hope I'll be hearing from you!

For the Love of Dresses...

If you know me pretty well, you know that I love dresses. I just always have, ever since I was a little girl! I remember wearing a dress a looooong time ago to my friend's house in the country, and then her chickens would peck at the buttons on my dress! I love the feeling I get from wearing a beautiful dress; I just feel the most "me" that I can feel. Besides, when I wear a dress, most of my outfit is already made! Sure, I can add a jacket and tights in the fall, or a sun hat and sandals in the summer, but still, most of the work is done. Anyone can automatically look pulled together in a dress.

Today, I want to share with you some photos that I've taken of me trying on different dresses. You will see me wearing some funny socks with my dresses- cuz that is just how I roll! ;) But even with the silly sock look, when I change into a gorgeous dress, I feel like a princess. Especially this one particular dress that I'm going to show you- care to take a guess at which one? :)

This next photo isn't a dress, but a skirt and top combo. But it's still cute!

This pink dress was in the running for me to wear as a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding, but it didn't make the final cut.

And now, here are some beautiful dresses for you to enjoy looking at- wish I could try these on!

Do you love dresses too? Which dress here is your favorite?

Elsa from "Frozen" Inspired Outfit

Hey! Emma here! Okay, who has watched Frozen? Who loves Elsa? I've watched Frozen at least 10 times, and my all-time favorite character is Elsa! I love just how elegant and amazing she is, and she has the coolest dress! So, quite awhile ago, I made an outfit inspired by Elsa's dress. Now I didn't have a lot of skirts (forget having blue skirts), so I had to settle for my classic black skirt. I paired my black skirt with my sparkly deep blue shirt, my black belt, blue earrings, light blue bracelet and my trusty converse!

I just love my bracelet! I got it from my Grandma and it's has such an antique-y feel to it!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you liked my outfit and I hope that you liked my post!

Nature Colors- Outfit Post

On Sundays, I really like getting dressed up for church, so for church two weeks ago, I put together this outfit. I don't know about you, but I find it more of a challenge to get dressed nicely in the summer, due to the heat. I like when the weather is cool, and I can add layers to my outfits and make it look cool. But in the summer, adding layers is kinda crazy. The most layer-y that I can usually get in the summer is a cardigan or a button down shirt worn over a tank top.

But even with weather problems, I still was able to make an outfit that wasn't too warm. I also really like the color scheme of this outfit, because it wasn't someting that I had really thought of before. The colors are inspired by nature somewhat- browns, greens, and blues... So I guess God thought of the color scheme first!

I hope that you like this outfit post, and that it inspired you to put together a cool new look that you love!

Treasure Island- COMPLETE!!!

Hi all!
Do you remember how in this post here, how I was talking about my finishing Treasure Island no matter how long it took? Well, I finished it! I'm so glad, because I told myself that I wouldn't buy a new book until I had finished it. So now, I'm free!

I'm a bit of a committed reader. If I choose a difficult book for me to read, and I say that I'm going to read it, that is what I do. And usually, I will reward myself by buying a new book. It's the cycle of a bookaholic. However, I'm proud to call my self as such!

As for Treasure Island, it wasn't all that bad actually. It didn't have any storms on the high seas, so that was nice! I get bored with all of the details of storms. The story moved along at a good pace, the characters were believable, and the dialect throughout the story was very authentic. If you like pirate stories, then you should definitely read this book. As I mentioned before in my previous post about this book, I'm not one who loves stories about the sea and pirates, but even I could enjoy this book in part.

Have ever read Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson? What did you think of it?

Muscle Tee- Weekend Challenge

Hello everyone!

Today I wore this super cute new tee that I bought at Kohls. They were having a sale on tees and tanks, so I thought, why not take advantage of it? They have a lot of fun options, so go check it out!

This top may be pretty simple, but I absolutely love the quote on it-

So fun, right? My mom and I were talking about adding rhinestones to the word glitter, but I don't think that we'll get around to it. I like this top the way it is.

I was thinking that this message could be taken in a couple of ways- one, "Oh! I'm so girly and love sparkles and I eat glitter for breakfast!"
And two, "I'M THIS BIG SCARY PERSON, AND I EAT GLITTER FOR BREAKFAST!!!"
My personality is more the first. It could be fun to pair this muscle tee with a floral skirt and flats...

So this weekend, your challenge is to wear a muscle tee! What exactly is a muscle tee? It's basically a tee shirt that looks like the arms were cut off, leaving a wide strap on your shoulders. I just love these tops, and I hope to get more in the future! They'll keep me cool in the hot summer months ahead.

And if you don't have a muscle tee, then maybe you could consider making one. Just chop off the sleeves of an old tee shirt that could use an overhaul. I'd love to see what you come up with!
Send in your pictures of you in your muscle tee to uniquelyyou4ever@gmail.com

Talk to you soon!

Weekend Challenge Completed- Pain and Pitfalls

Hi everyone!
So sorry that I haven't posted lately. I was planning on posting on Monday, but then I didn't have time, and it all spiraled from there. But today, I have some photos to share with you from this weekend's challenge!

In brief, I challenged you to wear something in honor of your pet this weekend. My dog Hunny is a cream standard poodle, so I wore a cream peasant blouse.

Selfie!

I hope that you completed the challenge as well!

Today was a bit of a rough day for me. I had a good day overall, but there were a few instances that weren't so pleasant. I had to wake up at 4:30 AM to get ready to go with my mom to take my brother to work, so that wasn't very fun. But it gave me time to complete my schoolwork early on!

Then this evening, my two sisters, my mom, and I went for a run around the park, and while we were stretching, Emma put her leg up in the air to stretch it, but when she brought it down, she slammed it into my face. I thought that I would have scratches on my face, but I don't think I do.

Then when we got home, I kinda fell in the yard and twisted me ankle. It feels OK right now, but I'm hoping that it won't hurt too badly tomorrow! But even though there were some harder patches today, I really did have a great day. Everyday is a gift from God, so I try to enjoy it! I hope that you had a great day as well.

Hunny Bunny- Weekend Challenge

Hi everyone!
Today I want to share with you a few photos that I have taken of my dog Hunny. If you are wondering why I spell her name like that instead of the proper way, then read on!

When I was little, we used to drive by this place called Hunny's Cafe, and I had a habit of trying to impress my mom by telling her that I could spell out words. One day, I told my mom that I could spell honey, and she waited for me to spell it. As we drove by Hunny's Cafe, I looked out the window and told her that honey was spelled "H-U-N-N-Y." It's been a running joke in my family ever since.

I wasn't even supposed to get Hunny. My sister wanted a puppy, so we went out looking for a black standard poodle. We found Emma a dog, but also unexpectedly found me one too! I like to think that Hunny chose me, because when the breeders put her in my lab, she put her little paws on my chest and sniffed my face, inspecting me. I felt like we immediately connected. I had thought that if I got this dog, I would name her Hunny, spelled just like that.

Hunny has been a part of my family for three years now. I got her when she was just a puppy, so she is three years old. As the years have gone on, I have gotten accustomed to her personality and the way that we work together. She's a bit stubborn, not very clingy (unless we have special circumstances), and kind of a pain to groom. But even with her imperfections, I love her- a lot. I call her by many nicknames, but one of my favorites is Hunny Bunny, because she used to hop around like a bunny! She's one of my best friends, and I think that she is a great dog, even though she can be less than obedient at times.

As mentioned before in this post here, Hunny's favorite color is pink. So this picture is very much "her."

I think that she has the prettiest eyes, and the most adorable face, so these photos are going to feature some of her cutest facial expressions.

That's me in the last photo. Just taking a moment to close my eyes with my dog in my arms, that's all. ;)

Because it is Friday, it is time to issue a new weekend challenge! Your weekend challenge is to dress up in honor of your pet. It can be any pet that you have- a horse, a turtle, a lizard, or even a goldfish! Just find something to wear that is inspired by your pet. And if you don't have a pet, then wear something inspired by your favorite animal, or an animal that you wish was your pet. Send me a photo of you and your pet looking alike to uniquelyyou4ever@gmail.com

I hope to be receiving your photos soon!

Lucille's BBQ and Hiking

Hi everyone!
How was your day? I started mine early, which actually is starting to grow on me. I enjoy getting up in the morning and getting my school done early, so I can focus on the rest of my day. Today I went with my mom to visit my grandma, who we call Nanny. We started the day with Nanny at Lucille's BBQ. I absolutely love it at Lucille's- the entire atmosphere is so southern, and I'm completely charmed by it! Especially because some of the restaurant has a southern, vintage vibe to it. That is where we sat today. Take a look!

These are pictures of the outside porch areas. Too cute!

Lunch was pretty fabulous as well.

I love their peach tea- and you can have the waiter fill up a cup to-go! I love that!

Their biscuits and apple butter is something that I always look forward to at Lucille's.

The main course- a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. Let's just say that I was in my happy place.

After our day with Nanny, the three of us (Emma, my mom, and I) went for a hike. We really enjoy getting out and seeing nature, and getting some much needed exercise. It's so cool to walk around in the outdoors and enjoy all of the scenery that God has created!

One of our resting spots.

Our dirty, tired feet!

So that was my adventure of the day! It may not seem very adventurous to you, or even to me, but it definitely beats sitting on a couch watching TV all day! Now I get to sit down for a bit and relax.
I'll talk to you soon!
